A night of good food and even better company in Distrito La Perla.
Succo is a contemporary Italian restaurant: fresh house-made pasta, stone-oven pizzas and wood-fired grill dishes, with a large terrace, an open kitchen and a central bar. Its executive chef is Javier Arvizu, and prices run from about 310 to 500 pesos per person. Source: the restaurant's OpenTable listing.
The good
- The flavor. The Pulpo Pepe and the gnocchi in squash sauce with pecorino, prosciutto di Parma and fried shallot were our favorites.
- The drinks. Tasty and refreshing: Italian soda, a Pink Flamingo and a carajillo to finish.
- The service. Good overall.
Room for improvement
- The octopus portion. A bit small for how good it is.
Why I keep coming back
This was our third dinner at Succo and I don't think it will be the last. So far I haven't tried anything I didn't like. Plus, Plaza La Perla is beautiful and its architecture invites you back; it's one of my favorite plazas in Guadalajara.
Verdict
Great flavor. If you go hungry, consider ordering something extra to share.
